Appellation : Pessac-Leognan
Chateau de Rochemorin
The Château de Rochemorin is a 77.5 hectare vineyard located in Martillac, on one of the highest gravelly hilltops of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Founded in 1520 by a Gentleman from the Sarlat region, the Château de Rochemorin has only kept its architectural style from the Périgord. In the 18th century, the estate became the property of Charles Louis de Secondat, future Baron de Montesquieu. Very attached to his vineyard, this philosopher, author of the “Persian Letters”, made himself willingly ambassador of these wines during his numerous travels. Bought in 1973 by André Lurton, the vineyard was replanted and an ultra-modern winery was built in 2005. A new era began for this château with its avant-garde spirit.

Wines.
The red wines of Château de Rochemorin offer complexity and aromatic expression. Their balanced and fine mouthfeel and melted tannins make them a sure value of the appellation, while remaining affordable. They go perfectly with an entrecote à la Bordelaise or a duck confit.
The white wines of Château de Rochemorin are fragrant and invigorating. Honeysuckle, blackcurrant bud, pineapple and pear intertwine in a mouth that is at once ample, juicy and very fresh. The smoky finish is a sign of its attachment to the gravelly terroir of Pessac-Léognan. To be enjoyed with asparagus with smoked salmon, prawns with curry or sea bream with lemongrass.
