La Clémence

Appellation : Pomerol

Christian Dauriac, a man with a passion for challenges, has succeeded in waking up the sleeping beauty… In 1996, he decided to call his property “La Clémence”, to symbolize the roundness and femininity of the great wines of Pomerol. The 6 plots of La Clémence are located on very different soils reflecting the diversity of the Pomerol terroir: deep dry gravel, sand with iron dross, red gravel, blue clay. La Clémence is a “haute couture” wine, producing in very small quantities, and of exceptional quality.

The owner's pitch.

“La Clémence covers an area of almost 3 hectares, divided into 5 blocks, representing, a very particular fact, all the terroirs of Pomerol: blue clay, red gravel, white gravel, deep sand, sand on clay; this allows a very personalized vinification, made to measure. The grapes coming from these plots, after a very qualitative sorting both in the vineyard (4 to 5 bunches per vine) and in the cellar (double sorting progressively refined to finish with a grain-to-grain selection) are vinified in wooden micro-foudres, only by pigeage, without pumping over, in order to respect the fruit as much as possible. The result is a “Haute Couture” wine, all in harmony, very smooth, very “Pomerol” and perfectly in keeping with its name: La Clémence.”

Its colour is an intense garnet red. From the first smell, we are immersed in a universe of red and black ripe fruits, such as wild cherry, raspberry and blueberry. On the palate, the attack is delicate and the tannins silky, the wine invites us to discover juicy fruit mixed with notes of spices and undergrowth which brings freshness to the structure. The finish is fruity and balanced. This wine is tasty and delicious.
