Appellation : Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Chateau Yon-Figeac
On a winding country road, just to the north-west of the village of Saint-Émilion, stands Château Yon-Figeac. Built in 1886, the château is a classic example of the region’s architectural style: a limestone house flanked by 24 hectares of vines.
These extensive vineyards make Château Yon-Figeac one of the largest estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation.
Visitors to the estate are immediately struck by the two sculptures standing proudly on either side of the alley that leads to the Château. The result of a collaboration between artist Cécile Pitois and Château Yon-Figeac, these sculptures were designed and created especially for the estate.

The owner's pitch.
Alain Château purchased the estate in 2005. As a trained engineer with an industrial background, he didn’t always seem destined for life as a winemaker… but his passion for wine and its landscapes decided otherwise. After learning the ropes at several estates in the Anjou region, the opportunity arose to pursue a new winemaking adventure in Saint-Émilion, at Château Yon-Figeac.

The goal set for the technical team was define in 2005, with the help of oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, and can be resume by “produce a high-quality classical Saint-Emilion, wthat the first quality is the balance”.
This general aim was decline in three points: respect for the terroir, lack of defects ans no excesses.
