Chateau Fombrauge

Appellation : Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé

Chateau Fombrauge stands out because it is the greatest Cru Classé of Saint Emilion. About 6 centuries ago, in 1466, a squire, Jacques de Canolle, declared himself lord of Fombrauge after buying the property. A man of knowledge and a great person ennobled by his functions as treasurer of France, he was received by the bourgeoisie of the city of Bordeaux. He very quickly set about making his land bear fruit by planting the first vines. The huge surface area of this vineyard (58.60 hectares), gives this terroir its unique typicity, complexity and identity… Typicality in diversity.

Wines.

A deep garnet-purple colour, the Fombrauge gives up expressive aromas of Black Forest cake, blackberry compote and morello cherries with hints of plum jam, spice box and potpourri. Full-bodied, with a firm, velvety texture and lots of freshness, all this rich black fruit offers a long spicy finish. Wine Advocate-Parker: 92-94/100. Dark, clear and intense, with a mafgnificent colour. The nose is as fruity as it is floral, with notes of red fruit, mainly black cherries, blackberries and elderberry. On the palate, sé immediately develops deliciously fragrant aromas, with a very fruity taste and a soft texture. This wine will go perfectly with a duck breast in sauce.
