Chateau Mazeyres

Appellation : Pomerol

Alain Moueix signs wines with length and elegance. The third largest property in Pomerol with 25.5 hectares, Mazeyres is spread over three types of terroir: fine gravel with a little clay, then sands and clays, giving fleshy and round wines; at the bottom of the plateau, clayey soils, with more dense and tannic wines. The Guillard family bought the property in July 2020 and pursues the action taken so far. Alain Moueix remains as consultant. The search for excellence continues with the effects of biodynamics that have been felt since 2012. The first certified vintage is 2015 in Organic Farming and 2018 in Biodynamics.

The owner's pitch.

“Going with Nature and not against it is Alain Moueix’s first principle. He introduced biodynamics to Mazeyres in 2009 so that the team could understand this new approach. Feel Biodynamics is important for a team and it needs few years. The collective approach is thus more authentic. We therefore find identity and purity in the wines. They are more vibrant, alive and their freshness provides emotions that we like to share.”

Wines.

The dress is dark and shiny. On the nose, the wine develops aromas of mashed strawberries and blackberries. When aired, the blackcurrant invites itself. The wine is very complex and promises great tactile smoothness. In the mouth, it does not disappoint. It has a lot of breadth and depth. The grain is caressing, silky to perfection. The finish stretches out over a complex aromatic palette and lovely freshness.
