Chateau Tournefeuille

Appellation : Lalande-de-Pomerol

Château Tournefeuille is situated in the commune of Néac within the sound of the church bells. Its vines cover 18 hectares forming one entity around the château, fermenting room and wine store. But what makes this estate special is the magnificent slopes on which it is perched, affording a wonderful view. Lit up in the afternoon by the hot sun of the south and bathed in orange light at sunset, it dominates the Barbanne valley. This river gently meanders between Pomerol and Néac, forming the hold border separating the former English and French seigneuries. Today it separates the seigneuries of Pomerol and Lalande, offering a splendid view of the Pétrus plateau. If history and landscape give this wine a definite attraction, the land is also part of the wine. Château Tournefeuille extends a unit of 17 hectares of vines, gathered around the chateau and its cellar.

The owner's pitch.

“Everything is balanced in the fruit of patience. This is a beautiful maxim for a beautiful terroir, that of Tournefeuille. This beautiful terroir must be allowed to express itself in its diversity. Associate the right grape varieties with it, let it speak for itself. That is our duty. To allow the best expression without forcing it, with patience. All the while respecting the surrounding natural elements. Each parcel of land is vinified and matured with respect for its character. We are looking for finesse and freshness.”

This wine is on a great finesse, soft, balanced, plum aromas, black currant and black cherry, all wrapped in suave tannins offering a lot of gluttony and length in the mouth. Ageing potential : 10 to 15 years. Pairs well with chocolate dessert, game.
