Leader of the AOC Blaye / Côtes de Bordeaux, Vignoble Bertinerie is a family Estate of 78 ha managed by Eric and his brother Frantz Bantegnies. It is also the largest property in France cultivated in Lyre. Initiator of the “culture raisonnée” during the 80’s, the Estate is now certified High Environmental Value 3 since 2017.The Lyre culture practised at HAUT BERTINERIE since end of the 80’s brings to the grapes a higher ripeness level of the berries, giving richer and smoother tannins, more silky wines. The plot by plot work, like the manual harvesting with sorting the berries are bringing more guarantees for an exceptional regularity from a vintage to another.

The owner’s pitch.

Since our arrival middle of the 80’s, my brother and I, are seeking for the perfection for each vintage. Vignoble Bertinerie is located on an outstanding terroir, we have chosen to cultivate our vineyards in Lyre to produce the best of the best. This choice has been an important decision, allowing the reds as the whites wines to hoist the highest Bordeaux levels . . . and it’s not finished ! Éric Bantegnies

Wines.

Château Haut-Bertinerie white : A wine full of elegance, complexity and subtlety with fruit and citrus aromas, worthy of comparison with the best French white wines. The vinification in barrel has brought out the noblest qualities in the grapes. It is a great white wine which can be laid down for years.

Château Haut-Bertinerie red : Intense colour, nose of red berries with hints of coffee and spice (mocha,vanilla, cinnamon and liquorice). Rich, tannic structure and great aromatic expression on the palate. Fine and elegant with great ageing potential. Powerful, with a superb unctuous finish coming through. A great wine.
