Chateau Dalem

Appellation : Fronsac

The Dalem wine property was established in 1610. Above the hillsides, it overlooks the Isle river valley. The wine estate belonged to the same family for over three centuries before having been bought out by Michel Rullier in 1955. Today, his daughter Brigitte Rullier-Loussert, works alongside her son Charles with the ambition of enhancing the exceptional potential of this terroir. An ambitious restructuring project has been undertaken adapting the growing and cultural techniques so as to enhance the value of the terroir for each plot. In the cellar, the expansion and modernization of the buildings combine tradition and innovation, while integrating the family’s historic homes in the heart of the vineyard. Château Dalem reveals what the terroir of Fronsac is capable of, producing in the most exceptional way.

The owner's pitch.

“It is with the utmost passion that, my son Charles and I in turn, perpetuate the historical and family heritage of this ancestral domain. We wanted to retain the identity of Chateau Dalem as being one of the Grands Vins of the Bordeaux Right Bank. Vintage after vintage, our wines convey nobility and elegance.
The « Dalem Style » represents the fusion of a planted grape variety selection with a terroir of exception. The vintages are consecutive but dissimilar, this represents the magic of a great terroir. It is this unique character, specific to the slopes of Fronsac, with its large proportion of Merlot, that is so appreciated in our wines.”

Château Dalem distinguishes itself by the elegance of its merlots, planted on an exceptional terroir that is composed of plateaus and slight slopes of blue clay and clayey limestone. A subtle combination of finesse and deepness, its charming fruit and its silky tannins evolve through a remarkable length. Ageing in French merain oak barrels of which 50 % are new, confers to the wine its refined personality. Endowed with a wonderful aromatic complexity, Chateau Dalem offers a superior ageing potential yet may be enjoyed as of now.
