Appellation : Sauternes
Chateau
Haut-Bergeron
The first written accounts of the existence of the estate date from 1756. It was then in 1820 that the Lamothe family became the owner of Château Haut Bergeron. It is thus one of the oldest families of the Sauternes appellation. Currently at the head of the property, Patrick and Hervé Lamothe, eighth generation, do their best to make the most of the potential of this fabulous terroir and thus perpetuate the tradition. Over the generations, the property has grown to become what it is today, a magnificent terroir of 37 hectares in the Sauternes appellation as well as 12 hectares in the Graves appellation. The terroirs, all of the first choice, especially near Château’Yquem, are located in the towns of Sauternes, Bommes and Preignac. The estate also extends to the town of Barsac with Château Farluret in conversion to organic farming as well as the Graves appellation with Château La Fleur des Pins and Clos des Pins. In a family spirit and with a taste for a job well done, the Lamothe Brothers perpetuate the historic know-how of the property and offer a varied range of wines, faithful to the style of Château Haut-Bergeron.
