Appellation : Lussac Saint-Emilion
Chateau
La Rose Perrière
Located in the village of Lussac, Château La Rose Perrière is one of the oldest estate in the appellation. Its story begins in the 12th century when monks cleared the forest and planted the first vines around the
estate on the calcareous plateau.
The vineyard, extends over 14 hectares, including 10.5 hectares of single-piece vines entirely planted with red grape varieties.
Very sunny, the vineyard enjoys a remarkable location and benefits from a limestone subsoil whose outcropping mother rock is covered with a crumbling clay-limestone layer no more than 30 cm thick.
The teams, involved in the HEV initiative, carry out daily work with the constant concern to reduce the environmental impact, to maintain and develop the biodiversity within the plots and around them.

The owner's pitch.
Jean-Luc Sylvain, reknown cooper from the Bordeaux right bank, fell for the charms of this unusual estate, its colourful history and its exceptional clay-and-limestone terroir and bought it in 2003. Nowadays, using family expertise and knowledge, part of the Sylvain family works to produce wines of outstanding quality. Claire and Rémi have chosen to follow in their father’s footsteps and are working for both the cooperage and the winery. United by the same passion, Jean-Luc and his children work together to make wines that reflect their image: authentic, with a wealth of unrivalled know-how.

Wines.
The winery’s iconic wine is made from parcels situated on the estate plateau, where the soil is very thin. It is vinified in 500-litre barrels renewed every year, an innovative process that offers a subtle combination of fruit and oak while preserving parcel selection. The aromatic complexity of ripe fruit and spices characterize this wine. The fat and silky tannins give it great seduction.
Château La Rose Perrière, Bordeaux Blanc Sec comes from vines planted in 2007, on the more calcareous soils on the northern slopes of the estate, to preserve the freshness and minerality. The fine oak is subtle as well as the work of batonnage which adds to the aging potential of this creamy and tasty wine.
