La Sergue

Appellation : Lalande-de-Pomerol

Located in Néac, at the crossroads of the great appellations of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, stands an exceptional 30 ha property: the Château Haut-Chaigneau. Various wines are vinified here, including the famous Château La Sergue. The Chatonnet vineyards grow the best grape varieties: Merlot Noir for roundness and fleshiness, Cabernet Franc for finesse and complexity, and Malbec for power and aromatic intensity, which are used in several Crus, each with their own style and identity.

The owner's pitch.

“To make great wines, you first need to look for what is at the origin of the identity of the Place. This identity is difficult to define because it uses a complex combination of parameters that are commonly called the Terroir. It associates first and of course the soil and the climate, but also and above all Man! Vinification then ageing and finally blending then packaging is only intended to avoid deviations which are likely to be developed if the Man forgets his role of Author.”

For Pascal Chatonnet, the essential work therefore begins in the vineyard but continues then at all stages.

Wines.

Dense and intense, but always elegant on the palate, complex and original on the nose, the vintages of La Sergue follow one another and are unanimously recognised internationally as a great success for the appellation. On the palate we find typical notes of cedar and liquorice characteristic of La Sergue. A voluptuous wine without heaviness, simply sumptuous. Great ageing capacity and the temptation to drink it without delay clash violently for our greatest pleasure.
