Chateau
de La Dauphine

Appellation : Fronsac

Château de La Dauphine has a historical association with royalty, that it shares with Versailles, due to the fact that the Dauphine of France (the wife of the Dauphin, or future king), Maria-Josepha of Saxony, mother of Louis XVI, stayed at the Château in the 18th century. The property is set in a 53-hectare vineyard (85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc) on an exceptional terroir. Having received AB (Agriculture Biologique – Organic Agriculture) certification in 2015, La Dauphine has continued in this direction, adopting biodynamic techniques, and obtaining various environmental certifications. Thanks to this approach that respects all forms of life and its ultra-modern winery facilities, Château de La Dauphine has established itself as one of Bordeaux’s outstanding properties, offering a full range of fine red, white, and rosé wines.

The owner's pitch.

Involved in the running of the property for more than ten years, Stéphanie Barousse is now Deputy CEO and oversees the property’s commercial and winegrowing activities with the help of an enthusiastic, committed team. ” When I arrived in 2005, Château de La Dauphine was still in the early stages of its development. Now, as Deputy CEO, it is with pride and affection that I see the property, which has accompanied me on my own journey, gaining in reputation with each vintage thanks to the dedication of a team of 20 people. ‘Details make perfection, and perfection is not a detail’, is an apt description of our approach to achieving excellence at La Dauphine on a permanent basis.”

Wines.

Beautiful appearance. Deep colour with glints of dark purple. Exuberant nose of black fruit: dark cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants. On aeration, the nose develops complexity with notes of liquorice and violets. The palate is rich with a smooth, creamy texture. Pleasant freshness on the mid-palate gives the wine an energetic character. Notes of fruit from the bouquet emerge with exceptional length.
