The owner's pitch

“In order to make great wines, one must first and foremost seek out what is at the origin of the identity of the place. This identity is difficult to define because it is based on a complex combination of parameters commonly called the Terroir. First and foremost, the soil and climate are obviously involved, but also and above all, man! Vinification, then maturation, and finally blending and packaging are all aimed at avoiding the deviations that can develop when Man forgets his role as Author.
For Pascal Chatonnet, most of the work begins in the vineyard but continues at all stages.

The wine.

L’Archange* is a 100% Merlot wine from a parcel of land located on clayey molasses covered with ancient sands in the vicinity of several Grands Crus Classés of the Saint-Emilion appellation. Harvested at optimal maturity, vinified simply but with the most modern techniques, then aged in barrels for 12 to 18 months depending on the vintage, L’Archange is, by nature, a round, dense, soft and fruity wine, with a unique style and exceptional ageing potential.
